Shelia Marie Hunter is a celebrity hairstylist, salon owner, makeup artist, author, and the creative force behind Carrie Louise Designs.

Since beginning her career as a hairstylist in 1989, Shelia has dedicated her life to helping people recognize their beauty, express their individuality, and walk confidently into every room. Her creativity extends beyond hair and makeup into writing, painting, and wearable art.

Shelia considers herself an artist rather than a traditional fashion designer. She does not sew or manufacture garments. Instead, she carefully selects already made clothing and uses each piece as her canvas. Through expressive colors, painted flowers, flowing brushstrokes, drips, textures, and thoughtful details, she transforms jackets, dresses, suits, denim, and everyday apparel into original works of art.

Carrie Louise Designs was created as a loving tribute to Shelia’s mother, Carrie Louise. The brand carries her name and honors the creativity, strength, confidence, and individuality that continue to inspire Shelia’s work.

Shelia’s personal journey with alopecia also helped shape the heart of her artistry. After years of concealing her hair loss, she shaved what few strands were left on March 28, 2018, and chose to live and show up as a bald woman. That freedom became the inspiration behind So Free Since, her community of conversations supporting people affected by alopecia, cancer, lupus, and other experiences of hair loss.

Carrie Louise Designs is the artistic expression of that same freedom.

Every creation encourages the person wearing it to be seen, embrace what makes them different, and express themselves without apology.
